The ISPS Code

The ISPS Code applies to all ships over 500 gross tonnage, shipping companies, ports and authorities, as well as tenants and all other users of ISPS port facilities. At the Port of Ålesund, Flatholmen, Skutvika and Gjøsund are designated ISPS port facilities and hold the necessary certificates to receive ships engaged in international voyages.

The ISPS Code requires physical security measures. Without approval, the port is not permitted to receive ships subject to the ISPS Code.
